m.a.a. yojana helped nearly 250k critically ill people: minister
Jaipur, Oct. 13 -- State health minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar on Sunday said that under chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma's initiative, nearly 250,000 critically ill patients availed of cashless treatment worth Rs.1,900 crore under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) Yojana, in only a year and a half since the scheme was launched in February 2024.
According to principal secretary (medical and health) Gayatri Rathore, the scheme initially provided for 73 new day-care cancer treatment packages, and was later expanded to include packages for geriatric care, adolescent mental health, oral cancer, persons with disabilities, robotic surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and skin transplants, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and AYUSH (under the central ministry of the same moniker). This expansion has made it easier for patients to access advanced treatment and has helped save countless lives, she added.
Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency CEO Harjeetlal Atal said that the total number of patients who availed the scheme included around 123,000 heart patients, 96,000 cancer patients, 20,000 undergoing dialysis, 6,700 diabetes patients, 452 cochlear implant cases, 300 bone marrow transplants, 760 kidney transplants, and 77 liver transplants. Cancer patients alone received cashless treatment worth Rs.800 crore, heart patients Rs.850 crore, and dialysis patients Rs.200 crore.
Currently, 13.4 million families are registered under the scheme. In the 2025-26 state budget, 132 new medical packages were added....
