Alwar, June 29 -- Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Tikaram Jully, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led administration in Alwar on Saturday, accusing it of presiding over rampant corruption while shielding vested interests. Without naming the two cabinet ministers from Alwar, Jully alleged that corruption under their watch has reached unprecedented levels, demanding a high-level investigation by the state and central governments into the irregularities surfacing across the district. Speaking to the media, Jully alleged that a significant deal took place during the exclusion of mining areas from the Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH) in Sariska, hinting at corruption at the highest levels. He underscored that the meeting where this decision was made was chaired by Alwar MP and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, indicating a clear nexus in the decision-making process. "Sariska, which has remained Alwar's lifeline even after Bhiwadi was carved out as a separate district, is crucial for the tourism economy of Alwar and Rajasthan. However, the government has compromised its integrity to benefit a few, reducing protected areas in mining zones while expanding boundaries where poor farmers and ordinary citizens reside," Jully charged. He criticised the government for manipulating Sariska's boundaries arbitrarily, questioning why the ministers from Alwar were failing in their responsibility to protect and enhance the region's ecological and tourism potential. Jully alleged that corruption has become "routine". "In Bhiwadi, contracts for sanitation have been awarded, while in Alwar, the budget for similar contracts has been inflated enormously. Even today, 70 old dumpers lie unused, while the administration is inaugurating 50 new ones. All this is happening while drains remain clogged, and essential works are ignored in favour of commission-driven projects," he stated. He also slammed the Alwar administration over dire pollution levels, "impending scam" in the dairy sector, and proposed relocation of the Khairthal Collectorate Refuting the allegations made by the Leader of Opposition, BJP's Alwar district president Ashok Gupta dismissed Jully's accusations as baseless and politically motivated. Gupta remarked, "Jully would do well to recall the corruption allegations levelled against him during the previous Congress regime." He said that even the then Congress MLA from Rajgarh, Johari Lal Meena, had opposed Jully's elevation to cabinet minister in the state government, citing these very allegations of corruption against him....
