Jaipur, May 1 -- Parts of Rajasthan witnessed light rain and drizzle amid heatwave conditions, bringing some relief as strong winds pushed the temperatures down, the weather department said on Thursday. According to the India Meteorological Department centre in Jaipur, isolated places recorded warm nights, while some areas experienced thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light rainfall in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning. Kota recorded highest rainfall at 20.6 mm during the period. The weather office said maximum temperatures in most parts of the state have slightly declined and are hovering between 40-42 degrees Celsius, which is around normal levels. A further drop of 1-2 degrees in day temperatures is likely over the next couple of days, providing partial relief from heatwave conditions, it added. Meanwhile, the weather has also suddenly changed in Jaipur and Ajmer in the evening when stormy wind and cloudy weather gave relief to the people. The temperature in Jaipur was 40.8 degrees on Thursday which was 2 degrees less than Wednesday while Ajmer recorded 39.8 degrees, six degrees down from yesterday. Due to the activation of a western disturbance and the influence of easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are likely in the next two to three days, along with light rainfall at isolated places....
