India, April 30 -- South Korean actor-singer Lee Seung-gi, best known for his role in A Korean Odyssey, has released a deeply personal statement announcing that he and his wife, actor Lee Da-in, have severed ties with her family. The decision comes in the wake of fresh legal allegations against his father-in-law, Lee Hong-heon. In a note shared on social media, the actor expressed heartbreak over the situation, Soompi reported: "Hello, this is Lee Seung-gi. It is with a heavy heart that I write this message. Although my father-in-law was previously sentenced to a fine in a retrial concerning illegal activities, he has recently been indicted again for similar unlawful acts. As someone who had placed trust in the family, I am devastated and at a loss for words over his wrongful actions." He went on to apologise for previously defending his father-in-law without a full understanding of the facts: "I deeply regret having spoken carelessly last year without thoroughly reviewing the matters related to my father-in-law. I firmly believe that any illegal acts must be met with appropriate punishment, and I sincerely apologise to the victims who may have suffered due to my hasty judgment." The actor added that the trust within their family has been "irreparably damaged," prompting a difficult but clear decision. "After much deliberation, my wife and I have decided to sever ties with her family. From now on, I will strive to uphold the right values and live with a sense of responsibility for a healthier society." He ended the note with a final apology....
