Jodhpur/Jaipur, May 22 -- The Jodhpur Collectorate received a hoax bomb threat on Wednesday, along the lines of six similar threats issued to district collectorates across the state over the last two days, additional district collector (ADC) said. ADC Jawahar Choudhary said the threat email warned of a possible impending explosion scheduled for 3.30 pm. "Following the alert, senior police officials including Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Alok Srivastava and IPS officer Hemant Kalal reached the spot along with other officers. A bomb disposal squad and a dog squad were also deployed to conduct an intensive search of the entire complex," he said. He added that the search did not yield any result, and the email has been forwarded to the cyber cell for further investigation. Based on complaint by the district administration, an FIR has been lodged at the Uday Mandir police station in Jodhpur. According to officials familiar with the matter, who didn't want to be named, the email was sent using a VPN and stated that an RDX-based explosive was installed on the premises. A senior police officer said that at least six Rajasthan district collectorates - Dausa, Pali, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tonk and Bhilwara - received similar emails at 10 am on Tuesday. This is the tenth instance of a district collectorate receiving such a threat over the last two weeks. The district collectorates in Alwar, Baran and Pratapgarh also received similar threats on May 14 from an anonymous sender, claiming "revenge" for the Centre's Operation Sindoor. Jaipur's Man Singh Stadium also received six such threats during the same period.
