Jaipur, July 10 -- In a boost to pediatric healthcare in Rajasthan, JK Lone Hospital in Jaipur is set to start paediatric cardiothoracic surgery, offering specialized treatment to newborns and young children suffering from congenital or early-onset heart diseases. Until now, SMS Hospital in Jaipur was the only government facility in the state equipped to treat children with heart conditions, resulting in long waiting periods and frequent referrals-even to AIIMS Delhi in critical cases. With the launch of this new facility, JK Lone will become the first government hospital outside SMS to offer such advanced care in the state. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College and senior cardiologist, the need for a dedicated paediatric cardiothoracic surgery department had been felt for a long time. "Once the unit becomes operational, the treatment process for children with heart disease will be much smoother," he said.
