Jats to hold rally for OBC quota on June 29
Bharatpur, June 12 -- Jat Mahapanchayat was held on Wednesday in Deeg district over the demand of quota under Other Backward Classes in central government jobs, people aware of the development said.
Nem Singh Foujdar, convener of Bharatpur,Deeg,Dholpur Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti said that the panchayat declared to carry out a "hunkar rally" against the government over quota demands at Dehra Mode near Jaipur-Agra national highway-21 on June 29,where Jat leaders are believed to gather thousands of people.
The panchayat was organised at Pengaur Chamad temple under Kumher police station by the Bharatpur, Deeg, Dholpur Aarakshan Samiti.
Jats of Bharatpur, Deeg and Dholpur have been demanding reservation under OBC category in central government jobs for around 9 years after they were deprived of the quota in 2014.
Ashok Gehlot led Congress government had already sent a recommendation letter to the central government four years ago to provide reservation in the centre jobs, Foujdar said.
The Social Justice and Empowerment department in Jaipur sent recommendation letter to National Backward Commission of India on December 29,2021 to include jats of both districts under OBC category in centre, he said.
Foujdar added that the state government had mentioned in a recommendation letter that trio district's jats were included under state OBC category on August 23, 2017, after an OBC commission report probed that jats in such districts are economically,educationally , and socially backward....
