Barmer, Oct. 12 -- The head of the Jalore municipal council was suspended after a purported video of him smoking a cigarette while interacting with complainants surfaced on social media, officials said on Saturday. Municipal council chief Dilip Mathur was suspended on Friday, according to an order issued by director of the department of Local Self Government (LSG), Prateek Chandrashekhar Juika. Following the suspension, the Jalore district collector appointed tehsildar Divijay Singh as the commissioner of the municipal council. The suspension comes after a purported video, which was widely circulated on social media, showed Mathur smoking a cigarette outside his chamber within the municipal council premises while talking to people who had come to discuss civic issues.
