Jaipur, Nov. 24 -- The country's first-ever 200-kilometre international cycling race, the 'Tour de Thar', was hosted on Sunday on the Jamnagar-Amritsar Bharatmala Expressway near Naurangdesar in Bikaner. The event, initiated by Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, saw global participation with cyclists from France, Switzerland and Singapore riding alongside athletes from more than 20 Indian states and Union Territories. Meghwal flagged off the race at 8.15 am in the presence of state ministers, MLAs, foreign delegates from France, and a large gathering of sports enthusiasts and community leaders. According to the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), for the first time, India successfully conducted a 200-km international-standard road race. Participants ranged from 16-69 years of age. The competition was divided into elite and amateur categories. In the elite men's category, Sahil Kumar, Vishwajeet Singh and Sachin Desai secured the top three positions. In elite women category, Swasti Singh, Soumya Antapur and Harshita Jakhad finished in the top three.
