India becoming isolated globally under Modi: Gehlot; BJP hits back
Jaipur, Aug. 7 -- Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, alleging that India is becoming increasingly isolated on the global stage under his leadership. In a post on X, Gehlot accused the Prime Minister of failing to respond to international challenges and ignoring critical domestic issues.
Gehlot cited US President Donald Trump's repeated comments on mediating between India and Pakistan, saying, "Trump has claimed nearly 30 times to broker a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and is now taking decisions that go against India's trade interests. Despite all this, PM Modi has not once addressed the issue directly or taken Trump's name."
He further stated that both China and Pakistan have openly aligned against India, and while Indian armed forces have given a fitting response, the country is politically and diplomatically isolated - a failure he attributed to Modi's leadership.
Criticising the Prime Minister's performance in Parliament, Gehlot wrote, "Instead of giving clear answers, Modi skirts around the issues. His government is unable to even hold debates on important national matters in Parliament."
On the domestic front, Gehlot said Modi had completely failed to generate employment, leaving the country's youth in distress due to rising unemployment.
Taking a jibe at Modi's famous "56-inch chest" remark, Gehlot concluded by calling him a "weak Prime Minister."
BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj said, "Ashok Gehlot ji is saying anything these days. The entire world today acknowledges the strength and leadership of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During Operation Sindoor, barring one or two, almost all countries stood with India."
He added, "The Government of India has made it clear that the nation's interests come first. The Congress party has never truly thought about the country, and even its patriotism remains questionable."...
