Jaipur, July 28 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an alert for heavy rainfall in seven eastern and southern Rajasthan districts while the schools in Dholpur has been shut by the districts administration for the next three days in view of the incessant rainfall. In an official statement, the IMD Jaipur said: "A depression system, which was formed over Madhya Pradesh, has been weakened on Sunday and has turned into a well-marked low pressure area (WML). It is currently located over north-western Madhya Pradesh, due to which heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded in some parts of Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Jodhpur divisions in the last 24 hours." It further said: "There is also a possibility of heavy and very heavy rains at some places in Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur divisions and light to moderate rains in the remaining areas. On Monday, very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is also predicted at one or two places in Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur divisions. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur divisions also which will continue till July 30." On Sunday, the highest rainfall of 136 mm was recorded in Banswara's Kushalgarh followed by 110 mm in Banswara's Sajjangarh, 100 mm in Dholpur's Saramthuda, and 90 mm in Sawai Madhopur's Chauth Ka Barwada. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for heavy to extremely heavy rains in seven districts - Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Pali. Meanwhile, in view of the constant heavy rainfall, Dholpur district administration has closed all the schools in the district from Monday till Wednesday as the heavy rains in the last 24 hours wreaked havoc in the region. Besides, Ajmer district admin also declared holiday in school for next three days. Several areas in Pali and Sirohi witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday under the influence of a weather system. In Jaitaran block of Beawar, a man drowned in a check dam. The deceased, identified as Laxman Nayak (40), a resident of Ras village in Beawar, drowned in the Kesarpura village anicut on Saturday. His body was found on Sunday. Apart from Pali, Sirohi also experienced intermittent rain until 10 am on Sunday, following heavy showers on Saturday. The downpour revived waterfalls in the surrounding hills while city lanes witnessed strong water currents. Waterlogging was reported at Ahimsa Circle, Teen Batti Chowk, and the collectorate premises. Due to heavy rainfall, two gates of Tonk's Bisalpur Dam, which is one of the major water sources for Jaipur and surrounding districts, were opened on Sunday to release the excess water in Banas river....
