Jaipur, Nov. 12 -- An FIR has been filed against IAS officer Ashish Modi on the complaint of his wife, IAS officer Bharti Dixit, 38, who has accused him of prolonged domestic violence, assault and illegal confinement, Dixit is posted as joint secretary in the finance department, while Ashish Modi is director in the social justice and empowerment department. Both are officers of the 2014 batch of the Rajasthan cadre. "In the FIR, Dixit accused Modi of constant domestic violence... Modi also had several relationships with other women," said inspector Rajesh Sharma of SMS police station. Dixit alleged that Modi coerced her into marriage in 2016 by exploiting her when her father was battling cancer. "Modi was initially posted in Nagaland cadre. Dixit alleged that he married her only to get a transfer to Rajasthan cadre," he said, quoting Dixit's FIR. Dixit alleged violence intensified after the birth of their daughter in 2018. "On October 14, Modi abducted her from the way to her daughter's school, he took her to a desolate apartment forcefully, started beating her under the influence of alcohol, and demanded a divorce," he said. A case was lodged against Modi under sections 81 (Cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 308 (2) (Extortion),127 (2) (Wrongful Confinement), 140 (3) (abduction) 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) of BNS and also relevant sections of the IT Act, said police. Reacting to the matter, Ashish Modi said, "I would not like to comment on anything as the matter is under investigation. I shall fully cooperate in the investigation, and one point is to be noted that I was in Bihar from 4th to 7th November, 2025, when the FIR was registered."...
