Jaipur, May 11 -- A 36-year-old jawan, Surendra Kumar Moga, who was working as an assistant medical sergeant for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Udhampur airbase in Jammu and Kashmir, was killed during an airstrike launched by Pakistan early on Saturday, said officers. Jhunjhunu district collector Ramavatar Meena said, "Surendra Kumar Moga was posted at the 39th wing of the IAF at Udhampur airbase. He is a resident of Jhunjhunu's Mandawa. He was martyred during a Pakistani attack on Saturday at the airbase." Surendra had been working with the armed forces for over 14 years. "Earlier, he was posted in Lucknow and was transferred to Udhampur only two months ago. The last time he visited Jhunjhunu was in April... On April 20, he returned to the airbase," said Surendra's cousin Kuldeep Kumar Moga, also a former army soldier. Soon after receiving the news of Surendra's death, his wife, Seema (34), fainted and collector Meena and other officers rushed her to a nearby government hospital in Nawalgarh. "She was discharged in the evening after preliminary treatment. Surendra and Seema have two children, Vartika (11) and Daksh (7)," Kuldeep added. Meena said that Surendra's body will be brought to Jhunjhunu by Sunday evening. "We have assured the family of providing all necessary support to his family," he said. Former CM and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also offered condolences. "In this difficult hour, we stand with the family of the martyr... we will forever remain indebted to him," he wrote on X....
