Hospital denied body to kin over dues: Min
Jaipur, Oct. 27 -- State agriculture minister Kirodi Lal Meena on Sunday alleged that a prominent private hospital in Jaipur refused treatment under the Mukhyamantri Ayushmann Arogya Yojana (MAAY) to a patient despite being empanneled for the same, and also denied to hand his dead body over to his family till treatment fees were cleared.
"I understand, there is a lack of government's monitoring. I will write to the CM and the health minister to launch a probe into the matter," said Meena after visiting the hospital.
42-year-old Vikram Meena, was admitted to the multispeciality hospital on October 13 after an accident in Dausa's Mahuwa, said the minister, adding that he died on Thursday. His family members approached the minister on Saturday with the allegations at hand, he said, adding that this was despite the fact that they had reportedly deposited Rs.6.39 Lakh of the total Rs.8 lakh bill.
Meena said he directed the local police station to lodge an FIR against the private hospital.
Reacting to the incident, LoP Tikaram Jully said, "When a government's own minister admits to weak monitoring, what else is left to say? The patients and people of this state are now left entirely at the mercy of God; there is nothing functioning under the name of the government."...
