Hoax bomb threat at stadium, 2nd in 5 days
Jaipur, May 13 -- Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur on Monday received a hoax bomb threat, only five days after another one, in the premises claiming to be a revenge of the Operation Sindoor, said officials.
The station house officer of Jyoti Nagar, Santra Meena, said, "The threat came through an e-mail to the Sports Secretary Neeraj K Pawan at around 6 am on Tuesday. This is the second threat in five days. However, it turned out to be a hoax after a thorough search."
The SHO said that "the e-mail was apparently sent from an Gmail id which claimed to be from Pakistan and it states that they will take a revenge of Operation Sindoor by bombing the SMS stadium."
"Soon after we were informed about the email, a team from the Bomb Squad and Anti Terror Squad reached the spot who evacuated all the staff and other people from the stadium. However, we have not traced any bomb so far," she added. She further said that the police's cyber cell is working to trace the IP address of the device from which the email was sent to locate the sender.
On Thursday, the stadium was also sealed after a hoax bomb threat was received claiming to be in response to Operation Sindoor, said officials.
The additional police commissioner, Kunwar Rashtradeep, said, "The threat came through an e-mail to the Sports Secretary Neeraj K Pawan at around 9:15 am on Thursday. We have immediately vacated the stadium. However, it turned out to be a hoax after a thorough search. Yet, we have sealed the stadium temporarily for an extensive security check. It will be open soon after all the security procedure is over."
