Heavy rainfall forecast for eastern distts: IMD
Jaipur, July 27 -- After a three-day gap, monsoon has resumed in Rajasthan on Saturday and heavy rainfall has been predicted in Eastern districts of the state, said officials.
"A depression system has formed over East India on Saturday throughout the North West Jharkhand and its surrounding area due to which there is a strong possibility of it moving in western direction in the next 24 hours. Due to its effect, heavy to very heavy rains have already occurred at some places in eastern Rajasthan in the last 24 hours," said Jaipur IMD office in an official statement.
It also read: "On Saturday, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in Kota, Udaipur divisions and heavy rain at some places in Ajmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bharatpur divisions. Extremely heavy rainfall may also occur in some parts of south-eastern and eastern Rajasthan on Sunday and Monday. Such heavy rainfall activity will now continue in the state till July 30."
There is a possibility of increase in rain activities in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in the next 4-5 days. During this period, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall at some places, IMD predicted on Saturday.
According to the data provided by the IMD, the highest rainfall of 158 mm has been recorded in Dausa followed by 100 mm in Bharatpur's Bayana, 80 mm in Sawai Madhopur's Chauth Ka Barwada, 70 mm in Baran's Anta, Jhunjhunu's Udaipurwati, Jaipur's Bassi, 60 mm in Jaipur's Sambhal, Karauli, Bundi's Nainwa, Ajmr's Vinay, and Jaipur's Chaksu.
Meanwhile, the IMD has further issued an alert for heavy rains in at least 24 districts including Ajmr, Tonk, Nagaur, Pali, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chaittorgarh, Rajsamand, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Sikar, Bikanr, Sirohi, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Sriganganagar, and Hanumangarh.
An incessant heavy rainfall has also claimed the lives of two minors on Saturday morning in Beawar's Jaitaran village. "The two siblings Anil Kumar (9) and Anita (7) drowned in a pond when they went to play there amid heavy rains and it overflew," said a police official from Jaitaran police station.
Four members of a family including a 7-year-old minor in Sikar also sustained severe burn injuries after they came in contact of a high-tension line when an electric poll collapsed near their house, said police, adding that they are undergoing treatment in a local hospital.
Severe waterlogging was also noticed in many parts of Ajmer and Jaipur.
"A part of the road behind a temple in Ajmr's Malasur road KK colony was also collapsed due to heavy rains creating a huge pothole following which the local municipality guarded the area and started a repairment work," said a municipality official in Ajmer....
