HC stays order handing ponds to fisheries dept
JODHPUR, March 22 -- The Rajasthan High Court has stayed a state government order transferring ponds from the control of Panchayati Raj institutions to the Fisheries Department until further orders.
The order was passed by a bench of acting chief justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and justice Baljinder Singh Sandhu on Thursday while hearing a PIL by gram panchayat Sorasan.
Appearing for the petitioner, advocate Priyanshi Jaiswal submitted that the Panchayati Raj Department had issued an order on August 27, 2025 transferring ponds that were under the control of Panchayati Raj institutions back to the fisheries department. She argued it was contrary to the provisions of Article 243-G and the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution. On behalf of the state, the additional advocate general sought time to file a reply. HC issued notices to the state government and other respondents and fixed the case for hearing after four weeks. htc...
