HC grants state till July 1 to file reply in '21 police exam case
Jaipur, May 27 -- The Rajasthan high court on Monday granted another extension to the chief minister's office (CMO) till July 1 to decide on the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector 2021 examination.
Filing an extension plea before the court on Monday morning, the additional advocate general, Vigyan Shah told the court, "In order to comply with the directions of this Hon'ble Court (on May 15), the meeting of the sub-committee of ministers which was previously scheduled on May 21 preponed and convened on May 20. However, the CM and the concerned members of the sub-committee, being involved in the preparation for 10th governing council meeting of the Niti Aayog at the New Delhi and for the meeting of the NDA chief ministers on May 24 and May 25 respectively, could not proceed further on the matter of SI-2021."
"In light of the above facts and circumstances, the Respondent -State humbly seeks indulgence of this Hon'ble Court and prays for grant of additional time to comply with the direction of this Hon'ble Court," read Shah's application to the high court president over by justice Sameer Jain.
Jain was hearing a bunch of petitions seeking to cancel the Sub-Inspector 2021 recruitment exam after the Special Operation Group (SOG) arrested 103 people, including 55 trainee SIs and two ex-RPSC (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) members Babulal Katara and Ramu Ram Raika in the case since March 2024.
The examination was conducted in 2021 to fill up about 859 posts. However, the SOG investigation found a massive fraud that took place from the written test to the interview of the examination.
Following the development, the SOG filed an FIR in March 2024 and initiated a probe into the case. The SOG also suggested in their report that the SI-2021 exam should be cancelled and the candidates should appear for it once more.
Meanwhile, the petitioners objected to the government's demand for another extension in the court on Monday....
