India, June 22 -- From impersonation and scams to fake verified accounts, many celebs have fallen prey to digital fraud. The latest to join the list is singer-actor Harrdy Sandhu, who was being impersonated on the instant messaging platform Telegram. "They (his fans) were promised personal meetings with me in exchange for money," Harrdy tells us. Besides him, his manager Pouja Gandhi, too, was being impersonated. "It began when someone reached out to my manager on Instagram about a fake account, where they (the impersonators) were claiming to be from my team and inviting fans to a Telegram group for personal access to me. My immediate reaction was shock and concern. These accounts were convincing enough to mislead genuine fans - and that's extremely worrying," he says. The musician says that the situation turned alarming when his fans started interacting with these fake accounts, believing them to be legitimate: "They were being asked for money to have a meeting with me. Such emotional and financial exploitation is completely unacceptable," says the 38-year-old. Pouja adds, "We've taken all necessary steps to report the matter to the cyber security cell and request the fans to stay alert."...
