Jaipur, Nov. 1 -- Rajasthan governor Haribhau Bagade has asked officials to expedite all pending welfare measures for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents, while approving key new initiatives such as an old-age home for veterans in Jaipur, an integrated soldiers' welfare complex in Jodhpur, and a time-bound policy to name schools and public institutions after martyrs. Presiding over the 18th meeting of the State Soldiers' Welfare Board at Raj Bhavan on Friday, the governor emphasised that all welfare work should be carried out with sensitivity and a sense of gratitude toward those who serve the nation. The meeting was attended by soldiers' welfare minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, minister of state Vijay Singh Chaudhary, Board chairman Premsingh Bajor, and chief secretary Sudhansh Pant. The governor also gave approval in principle for setting up a Soldiers' Welfare Office in Rajgarh, Churu, and discussed plans to develop a modern integrated complex at the Raika Bagh campus in Jodhpur under state and central government schemes. He emphasized adopting a uniform policy for naming schools and public places after martyrs within a defined timeframe, states the official release. The meeting also discussed increasing the honorarium for gallantry medal awardees, aligning Rajasthan's policy with other states. The Governor directed effective dissemination of central and state welfare schemes for ex-servicemen and their families. Rathore informed that the state government has been consistently working for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents. He said 250 ex-servicemen have been appointed in the education sector, and 40 ex-servicemen were selected in the latest Rajasthan Administrative Service recruitment. Bagade inaugurated the 'Sainik Welfare Portal', designed to automate and provide online access to various welfare schemes and development programs for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents. He also launched a dedicated social media platform to share real-time updates about central and state government schemes. Bagade also chaired a meeting of the Amalgamated Fund for Soldiers' Welfare, approving income and expenditure of Rs.406.46 crore. He cleared proposals related to financial assistance for personnel from Sepoy to Havildar ranks, aid for children of ex-servicemen admitted to Sainik Schools or defence academies, and emergency expenses for running soldiers' rest houses....
