Bharatpur, June 11 -- A day after the police registered a case against unidentified people who blocked the Mumbai-Delhi railway route in Bharatpur on June 8, the Gurjar community leaders have urged the state government to "show leniency" towards the REET candidates who were part of the protest. On June 8, the Gurjar community leaders organised a Mahapanchayat in Peelupura village in Bayana tehsil over reservation demands wherein they announced the end of their protest after the government approved their requests. However, after the Mahapanchayat, a group of protesters blocked the Mumbai-Delhi railway route at Peelupura, halted a train and damaged railway property. Bayana Sadar police station in-charge Krisha Veer Singh on Monday registered a first information report (FIR) under BNS sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 285 and 125, PDPP Act, 147, 150, 151, 174 and Railway Act 1989 . "After the panchayat, some people including Rajasthan Eligibility Exam for Teachers (REET) candidates under MBC category blocked Mumbai-Delhi railway route at Peelupura. They stopped the Mathura-Sawai Madhopur local train-54794, entered the train engine and damaged railway property after they were provoked by Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti leaders during the panchayat," said Pradeep Kumar Tiwari, RPF police station in-charge of Bharatpur. Vijay Bainsla,Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti president, said: "After the panchayat ended, some social media influencers instigated the youth and took them to block the railway track. I urge the government to show leniency towards the REET candidates mentioned in the FIR and withdraw the case."...
