GRANT FOREIGN TOURISTS GST EXEMPTION, IHHA URGES CENTRE
Jaipur, Sept. 3 -- The Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) has urged the Union Government to grant a GST exemption for foreign tourists, a move aimed at boosting inbound tourism and strengthening India's competitiveness against Southeast Asia and Israel, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
The appeal, submitted to tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, also aims to help mitigate the foreign exchange deficit triggered by the ongoing US. tariff issues, said Gaj Singh Alsisar, IHHA Secretary General at a presser, ahead of the association's 12th Annual Convention.
The IHHA will host its 24th Annual General Meeting and 12th Annual Convention on 6-7 September in Jaipur, hosting around 150 heritage hoteliers from across India.
