Jaipur, Feb. 17 -- Allegations of rampant corruption, irregularities in minimum support price (MSP) procurement and the controversial cancellation of a school's CBSE affiliation dominated the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on Monday as opposition Congress tore into the state government during the budget session. The fiery debate, triggered by Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra's broadside against the BJP regime, highlighted governance failures from bribery scandals to unfulfilled farm promises and education disruptions, setting the tone for a tumultuous Question Hour and bill proceedings. Leading the attack, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra alleged that corruption was at its peak in the state. He claimed that an IAS officer in Sikar had allegedly demanded Rs.2 crore from a doctor, pushing the 45-year-old into depression and leading to his death from a heart attack. The House witnessed uproar earlier when Congress objected to the low attendance of BJP MLAs during the introduction of bills after lunch. Parliamentary affairs minister Jogaram Patel was tabling the Jan Vishwas Amendment Bill when the Speaker permitted it through voice vote. The Congress demanded a division, alleging inadequate numbers on the treasury benches. During Question Hour, Congress MLAs Suresh Gurjar and deputy leader of opposition Ramkesh Meena raised concerns over procurement of crops at MSP. They questioned why bajra procurement had not been undertaken despite announcements.
