Jaipur, July 13 -- The senior assistant director of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board has been put on APO (Awaiting Posting Orders) on Friday after a controversy erupted in the state over two history books in Class XI and XII that 'glorified Gandhi family'. An order issued by the board, the secretary Kailash Chandra Sharma wrote, "Dinesh Ojha, the senior assistant directorate of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board is hereby putting on APO in an immediate effect while he will continue to report at the Secondary Education Directorate in Bikaner till the further order." The move came days after the government scrapped two history books on Thursday after the education minister Madan Dilawar alleged that the books "glorified the Gandhi family and overlooked the contribution of several leaders from different parties including that of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi." During a press conference on Thursday, he said, ""The previous government under the (former chief minister) Ashok Gehlot launched a history book for Class XII- 'Azadi Ke Baad Swarnim Itihaash' in which has glorified only the Gandhi family and the Congress as if no other people had any contribution in the freedom movement and the further development of the country post independence. Soon after it came to our notice, we directed our syllabus review committee to look into this matter and rectify those mistakes." Calling it a 'cunning move' by the Congress, he further added: "Removing the Artcile 370 in Jammu and Kashmir eliminated terrorism. Earlier, the constitutional provisions and the directions of the Supreme Court could not even be implemented in that region. Don't you think that our children should read about this policy and also the history of Ayodhya Ram Mandir? Shouldn't they read about the person (PM Modi) who did all these for this country?" Meanwhile, the matter also sparked a political slugfest as the Congress took a dig at the BJP saying that they have no contribution in the freedom movement. The former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, termed the decision "absurd." In a post on social media, Gehlot said, "It is a fact that after independence, Congress governed the country for the longest period and took India to historic heights. The BJP cannot erase this truth." He said it was under Congress governments that Indian scientists launched missions like Chandrayaan, and engineers built major factories, dams, and institutions. "Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the nation. Can the BJP change these facts too?" he questioned. Gehlot also criticized the financial waste of discarding books worth Rs.2.5 crore....
