Jaipur, Dec. 19 -- Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday said the state government has drawn inspiration from India's age-old traditions of respecting nature while framing its policies and campaigns for environmental protection. He appealed to people to take a personal pledge for conservation and work towards making Rajasthan a leader not only in development but also in environmental protection, ensuring a secure future for coming generations. Addressing the Hariyalo Rajasthan Environment Conclave in Jaipur, the chief minister said that environmental conservation has always been an integral part of India's culture. "We worship rivers, mountains, trees, the earth and the sun because the continuity of life depends on protecting nature," he said, citing the Khejadli sacrifice as one of the strongest examples of environmental conservation in Rajasthan's history. Highlighting challenges such as climate change, air pollution and water scarcity, Sharma said the state government has turned environmental protection into a mass movement. Through the Karmabhoomi Se Matribhoomi campaign, more than 14,000 groundwater harvesting structures have been constructed with the involvement of migrant Rajasthanis. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative, the chief minister said that nearly 20 crore saplings have been planted in the last two years under the Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign. Sharma said the state's Green Budget reflects its commitment to addressing climate change. Initiatives such as the Climate Action Plan-2030 and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence to promote clean and green technologies are part of this effort. To tackle air pollution, continuous air quality monitoring stations and mobile vans are ensuring real-time monitoring across the state. He also announced that the state government has introduced the Circular Economy Incentive Scheme 2025. On renewable energy, Sharma said Rajasthan is rapidly advancing in the clean and green energy sector and currently ranks first with a solar power generation capacity of 22,860 MW....
