Govt's focus on women empowerment: Sharma
Jaipur, Jan. 12 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving forward with the resolve of a developed India, with women power at its core.
Interacting with girl students interested in the social sector during a pre-Budget dialogue at the Chief Minister's residence, Sharma said motherhood forms the foundation of a healthy society. With this vision, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has been implemented effectively in the state, benefiting nearly 1 million women, with assistance increased to Rs.6,500.
The chief minister said, "The double-engine government has linked women empowerment to every stage of life - from motherhood and education to livelihood, and from livelihood to a dignified, safe and self-reliant life."
Chief minister Sharma said over 2 million women have been trained through skill development and livelihood programmes, and more than 12 lakh women in the state have become 'Lakhpati Didis'.
Sharma added that under the Lado Protsahan Yojana, the incentive amount has been raised to Rs.1.5 lakh to secure the future of girls.
So far, over 1 million bicycles and around 40,000 scooters have been distributed to girls, while needy women are being provided LPG cylinders at Rs.450.
Highlighting employment initiatives, Sharma said over one lakh government jobs have been provided in the past two years, while recruitment is underway for more than 150,000 posts.
Sharma also asserted that recruitment processes are being conducted transparently, with no paper leaks reported during the current government's tenure.
The chief minister underlined the crucial role of women in building an Atmanirbhar Bharat, stating that Rajasthan offers vast opportunities in tourism, industry, startups and marketing.
He said the state's development would be complete only when girls are educated, secure, self-reliant and empowered, adding that the suggestions received during the dialogue would be valuable for policy-making....
