govt gets notice over chemicals found in henna
Jodhpur, July 31 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued notices to the Rajasthan government and other respondents over serious environmental and health concerns related to henna manufacturing units operating in Sojat, a town in Pali district known for its henna production.
The order, passed on Tuesday by a bench comprising justice Sheo Kumar Singh and expert member A Senthil Vel, was in response to an application filed by Ajay Dabariya who said that many manufacturing units in Sojat were illegally using hazardous chemical pigments such as Sodium Picramate, which is marked as not safe for use in cosmetics, particularly in henna paste cones.
"A substantial issue of the environment has been raised and it requires consideration," the bench observed. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on October 8, 2025.htc...
