Jaipur, July 5 -- Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday said the Rajasthan government is committed to the holistic development of women. Under the leadership of the PM, both the Central and State governments are consistently working towards women empowerment. "Mass wedding ceremonies have become a support system for those in need and provide a positive direction to society," he added. Addressing a mass wedding ceremony at the State Women's Home in Sanganer, he said that the event reflects the government's unwavering commitment to social inclusion and women empowerment. "This ceremony marks a new beginning for daughters from socially and economically weaker backgrounds, offering them respect, love, and a path toward self-reliance," the CM said. Highlighting the fairness of the process, he said that after the previous mass wedding, over 1,900 men had applied to marry the girls from the institution. From these, 11 eligible grooms were selected through a transparent process that gave utmost importance to the dignity and preferences of the girls. The CM reiterated the government's strong resolve to make every daughter and woman in the state self-reliant and capable of building her own identity in society. "Our government has launched several schemes for the welfare and empowerment of women and girls, directly benefiting lakhs of them," he said. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, financial assistance between Rs.21,000 and Rs.51,000 is provided for marriage. Over the last one and a half years, more than 13,000 girls have received assistance amounting to Rs.71 crore under the scheme.
