Jaipur, Sept. 9 -- The Rajasthan government is committed to boosting markets for farmers in the state, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Monday.
At the inauguration of a day-long workshop for spices producers and farmers in Jaipur, he said, "The Rajasthan government is setting up several initiatives to boost the market for spices and other products produced by our farmers. Apart from providing farmers with an additional Rs.2,000 under the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in Rajasthan, we have also allocated Rs.231 crores for the development of mandis."
He added that the government has spent Rs.86 crores for the construction of roads in rural areas to connect the mandis located far from villages.
"Rajasthan is known for spices production. We are first in the country for cumin production, second in fennel production, and third in corriander and ajwain production," said the CM adding that the Central government has initiated a project to build 8 common incubation centres to assist these small spices farmers.
"These centres will be equipped with cooling storage and a proper market where farmers may sell crops at proper MSP. We are also setting up labs and Food Courts in Tonk for toamto and mustard products," Sharma added.
Sharma said that the government is providing Rs.200,000 insurance to farmers under Krishak Sathi Sahayata yojana for any accident in the workplace. The government has allocated Rs.630 crores to support 1,400 farming-based startups....
