Govt begins drive to verify teachers
Barmer, Aug. 29 -- On the recommendation of the Special Operations Group (SOG), the education department has launched a large-scale scrutiny of 4,517 teachers appointed in Barmer district over the past five years. The exercise began on Thursday with a special camp set up in Gudamalani block.
The verification is being carried out by a 10-member team from Jalore, which will conduct block-wise checks until September 17. After completing the process, the team will submit its report to the SOG for further action. The order for the scrutiny was issued by the principal of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET).
Officials said the move follows concerns over possible irregularities and links to paper leaks and recruitment fraud. Teachers suspected to have secured appointments through fraudulent means or in connection with cheating rackets will be identified and listed.
The directorate of elementary education, Bikaner, had issued an order appointing the Jalore team for the task. The team comprises principals and lecturers from various institutions.
According to officials, the scrutiny will cover around 4,517 employees appointed in the last five years. Their appointment documents and recruitment processes will be thoroughly examined. Officials assured that after the scrutiny, a detailed report will be sent to the SOG for appropriate action against those involved in irregularities.
