Germans among 6 held for conversion
Bikaner, Dec. 20 -- Police detained six people, including a German couple, for allegedly luring people to convert to Christianity by offering monetary inducements, police said on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday night in Ward No. 22 of Sri Karanpur town, near a Gurudwara in the Lakkad Mandi area, police raided the premises based on a complaint by Hindu outfits, where religious gatherings were allegedly being conducted secretly, SHO Raji Ram of Srikaranpur police station said.
However, the German couple was released after preliminary questioning, while further legal proceedings are underway, Raji Ram said.
Those detained include German nationals Sven Baus Bet Jaler and his wife Sandra, Santosh Varghese, a Karnataka resident, Mathew from Kerala, along with locals Baljinder Singh Khosa, and Rajesh Kamboj.
The couple also travelled to Majhiwala border area, he said, adding a case has been registered under the Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2025, along with Sections 223(B) and 170 of BNSS....
