Jaipur, Sept. 18 -- The Opposition in Rajasthan on Wednesday came down heavily on the state government after a chapter on social reformer Jyotiba Phule was reportedly removed from the Political Science syllabus of Rajasthan University. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot called the move "highly condemnable" and a "big blow" to those inspired by Phule's lifelong struggle against social evils and for the promotion of girls' education. In a post on X, Gehlot alleged that the BJP and RSS were "tampering with education in an attempt to promote one ideology," and demanded that the government immediately restore the chapter to the syllabus. "It is their mistake to think that removing a chapter on Phule, who worked for the welfare of the deprived and oppressed, will help them succeed in their agenda," he said. Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said, "The new generation has the right to know about the life and struggles of Jyotiba Phule, who devoted himself to women's education and social justice. He remains a source of inspiration for all of us..." BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj said, "It has become habit of Congressmen to level baseless allegations as they have nothint to raise. BJP has not only celebrated Phule's anniversary but also follows his ideology. htc...
