Jaipur, June 3 -- Kota In the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) results announced on Monday, four students studying in Kota ranked among the top 10 - Rajit Gupta secured all India rank 1 followed by Saksham Jindal on the second position, Akshat Kumar on sixth, and Devesh Kumar on eighth. Rajit, a Kota resident, had been preparing at a coaching centre in the city for the last six years. The 18-year-old said his father Deepak Gupta, a sub-divisional engineer in BSNL, inspired him. "My father has been an inspiration," he said, adding that his father too studied at the same coaching centre as him and ranked 48th in Rajasthan Pre-Engineering Test in 1994. His mother, Shruti Agrawal, teaches home science at a Kota college. Rajit credited his focus on ensuring he did not repeat his mistakes for his success. "...because only when the mistakes are removed, the foundation of your subject becomes strong," he said. He called happiness the key. "I remain happy in every situation. But my practice stopped during Covid-19. I had no clue what to do. I found my new interest in puzzle games and mathematics-based activities. I also started appearing for Olympiads. Gradually, I decided to take JEE," he said. He added that his parents, both doctors in Hisar, gave him full freedom to choose what he wanted.
