Former CJI, Esther Duflo among 350 speakers at Jaipur Lit Fest
Jaipur, Jan. 13 -- Former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Nobel prize-winning economist Esther Duflo, and former West Bengal governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi are among the key speakers at the 19th Jaipur Literature Festival, which will go from January 15 to 19.
Sanjay K Roy, managing director of Teamwork Arts, said: "The 19th edition of the JLF will feature over 350 speakers across six venues, curating an expansive programme that traverses fiction, poetry, history, art, science, maths, medicine, mental health, climate action, business, geopolitics and conflict, gender and translations, cinema, race, identity and more, weaving in the enduring power of storytelling."
Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, and eminent writers including Alok Vaid-Menon, Alice Oswald, Gaur Gopal Das, Megha Majumdar, Edward Luce, Ella Al-Shamahi, Percival Everett, Rachel Clarke, Richard Flanagan, and Richard Horton also feature among the key speakers.
"The speakers will include at least four Nobel winners along with several Booker prize winners, Magsaysay winners, Sahitya Akademi winners," said Roy.
He added: "Each year, the Festival sustains a substantial cultural and economic footprint across the state, engaging approximately 2,000 locally based professionals across production, technical operations, hospitality, venue management, logistics, transport, and volunteer teams."
Roy said that nearly 60 Rajasthan-based businesses support the festival across food and beverage services, staging, lighting, decor, printing, crafts, merchandise, and technical services, alongside 55-60 food stalls that remain among the most visited spaces during the festival.
Jaipur BookMark, South Asia's leading publishing conclave, will run alongside the Festival. Its 13th edition focuses on the Marathi language, translations, emerging storytelling innovations, and artificial intelligence's evolving role in publishing.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy serves as Country Partner. BluOne Ink presents Jaipur BookMark 2026, which continues its joint initiative with the British Council: the India-UK Publishing Fellowship. This programme aims to deepen professional collaboration and expand global exposure for independent publishers.
"The Tamil Nadu Textbook Bureau, Sage Publications, and the Department of Marathi Language, Government of Maharashtra, join Jaipur BookMark as Session Partners," Roy said.
