Bharatpur, Sept. 12 -- Family members of a former BJP MLA were attacked at their residence by around 50 to 60 people by lathis and iron rods on Thursday in Bharatpur, police said, adding that the incident took place in Basai village after a local mob reached the house of former BJP MLA from Bayana Bachchu Bansiwal and attacked his family members. The former legislator's brother Kamal Singh and four other members sustained injuries, added police. On being informed, a police team reached the spot and rushed all injured to Rupwas hospital, from wherein they were referred to Bharatpur district Raj Bahadur Memorial hospital. According to a complaint filed by Kamal Singh, the incident was reportedly sparked by a person from the village marrying another person from a different caste. "Around 50 to 60 people from the upper caste gathered and attacked us with lathis and iron rods when we were eating," said the complaint. Hariram Kumawat, additional superintendent of police, Bayan said that family members of former MLA Bachchu Bansiwal were attacked by more than 50 people of village. All injured are undergoing treatment. Police registered complaint and started investigation, he confirmed. Police personnel were deployed in the village to maintain law and order. All attackers are absconding while the police teams were formed to search them, police officers familiar with the matter said....
