Forest guard run over by suspected mining mafia's tractor dies: Police
Bharatpur, Jan. 11 -- A forest guard was declared dead during treatment on Saturday after he was mowed down by tractor trolley of the mining mafia in Dholpur, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Jitendra Singh Shekhawat. Ashish Vyas, Dholpur forest officer said that Shekhawat was mowed down by a tractor trolley of the mining mafia last Wednesday night and his right leg was amputated in Jaipur hospital.
Shekhawat was posted at National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary, Jhiri in Dholpur. He was deployed at the Jhiri check post, officials said.
Due to health issues, he went out to have medicines where a tractor trolley, allegedly transporting river sand, crushed his leg and fled, officials said. He was taken to Sar Mathura Community Health Centre where doctors referred him to Jaipur.
Devendra Singh, area forest officer, Chambal said that a complaint has been registered against the mining mafia for attacking the forest guard.
Three tractor trolleys full of river sand were seen on CCTV footage from the area on the day of the incident, officials said....
