Jaipur, July 25 -- The Rajasthan government is all set to get its first artificial rain with a cloud-seeding process in Jaipur's Ramgarh dam, said officials. Rajasthan agriculture minister Kirodi Lal Meena said, "For the first time, artificial rain will be done through drone. A team of scientists from the US had already visited the state and helped making the plan. All the departments related to the environment sector discussed and approved the plan." He added, "The state government has already given an NOC and now only an NOC from the civil aviation ministry is awaited. The drones will take a very high altitude and then this will be done via cloud seeding in Ramgarh Dam." For this project, advanced drones will be imported from South Korea. "It will spray sodium chloride in the warm cloud for seeding and that will generate rain," the minister said. "Initially, we have selected the Jal Mahal area for the project. But the scientists' team suggested the Ramgarh area as it may generate more rain," he said. An official from the department also said that the scientists' team associated to the GenX AI are overseeing the entire project. The MD of GenX AI, Rakesh Agrawal, said, "Currently, it is under a pilot project and we are going to conduct 60 cloud seeding as a test drive in Ramgarh in the first week of August. We have already received an approval from all the departments and ministries concerned for the trial, but we are still waiting for an approval from DGCF as we will use drones." He added, "So far, all the artificial rain projects in the world have been done on a large scale. But we are going to test the first precision-based seeding. We are not in a position to declare the budget and the amount of rain that would be generated through this seeding. But, the government will adopt it as a scheme if the test drive is successful."...
