Bharatpur, Dec. 25 -- The Dholpur district police on Wednesday arrested five gang members after a gunfight in a ravine, police said. The accused were identified as Ajit Thakur, Kalyan Thakur, Dhiran Thakur, Vishnu Koli and Shiva Thakur, said police officers aware of the matter. According to Dholpur superintendent of police, Vikas Sangwan, the Basai Dang police station recieved a tip-off early on Wednesday morning of the presence of suspected gang members in a ravine near the Basai Dang village. After a police team reached the spot, they were allegedly met with gunfire from the gangsters, which sparked an encounter, in which Ajit Thakur was reportedly injured, said Sangwan. The gunfight ended in all five being apprehended, and five firearms and 75 cartridges were recovered from their possession, added the SP. Two of the gang members- Ajit and Kalyan Thakur, carried bounties of Rs.50,000 each on their heads. Both are repeat offenders, with 35 and 33 cases registered against them respectively, said Sangwan, adding that another gang member, Dhiraj Thakur, was booked in a total of 8 cases....
