JODHPUR, July 10 -- The Fatehsagar Talab, also known as Bada Talab, located in the heart of Kotri village in Bhilwara district, is facing severe ecological degradation due to unchecked encroachments, open dumping of solid waste, and the inflow of untreated domestic sewage. This was revealed in a joint inspection report submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Central Zone, Bhopal, on July 8. The report, prepared by a joint committee comprising representatives from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) and the Bhilwara district administration, was filed in compliance with the NGT's April 1 order in response to a petition by local resident Vishnu Kumar Vaishnav. "After inspecting both ponds, we have submitted the Joint Committee report to the NGT, incorporating the ground situation and the results of water sample analysis," said Deepak Dhanetwal, Regional Officer of RSPCB, Bhilwara.
