Barmer, Aug. 14 -- Farmers under the banner of RSS-affiliated Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) have launched an indefinite protest in Jalore district's Sanchore block, accusing the government of failing to address long-pending demands. After a day-long protest on Tuesday, the farmers announced they would continue the agitation until their issues are resolved.
Their key demands include the release of input subsidies for the Rabi season of 2022, compensation for crop losses during the Kharif and Rabi seasons of 2023, and insurance payouts for crops damaged by natural calamities in the 2024 Kharif and Rabi seasons. They also allege large-scale irregularities in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). They claim that company officials and patwaris manipulate reports during crop-cutting assessments. They demanded the crop-cutting committee to include the landowner and four neighbouring farmers.
BKS district president Chogaram Choudhary said,"...we will not withdraw until our core demands are met. If ignored, we will intensify the agitation."...
