Bharatpur/Sikar, Sept. 25 -- Two constables were attacked by the family members of a man accused of kidnapping and raping a girl, when police came to detain him in Sikar district, police said on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when two constables from Maulasar police station of Didwana-Kuchaman district reached Anokhu road under Dhone police station of Sikar to detain the accused. The accused was identified as Gautam Meghwal, native of Anokhu road under Dhone police station who had been absconding, while the police arrived to detain him. Raj Kumar, Dhone police station in-charge said that two constables from Maulasar police station of Didwana-Kuchaman police, Mukesh Kumar and Vijendra Singh registered a complaint against some people under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to obstruction of government work and assault. "Two police officers tried to arrest the accused in his house but his family members assaulted the officers. On being informed, police reached the spot and released both cops from the family members." Jitendra Singh, police station in-charge of Maulasar police station said that family members of the victim registered a complaint against Gautam Meghwal under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on May 18. He had abducted a 16-year-old girl on May 17, she was rescued by the police on May 20 after a complaint was filed, but the accused managed to flee. A medical examination was carried out and the victim's statement was recorded. The high court had stayed the arrest of the accused in June but as the stay was cancelled on September 15, he absconded. Two constables from Maulasar police station were directed to arrest him after getting his location in Sikar district. The accused has been arrested while a complaint has also been registered against his family members for assaulting cops, police said.
