Jodhpur, Aug. 31 -- The high court has pressed the state government to expedite the allotment of land and administrative sanctions for the setting up of legal chambers across newly-created districts. A division bench, consisting of justice Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati and justice Dinesh Mehta, in the course of hearing a batch of writ petitions led by District Bar Association, Banswara vs State of Rajasthan, recorded a submission from the advocate general Rajendra Prasad that stated that 117 land allotment cases for court buildings and residences were pending. The bench directed that 20 of the cases be taken up on a priority basis, with "concrete" results in the next four weeks. The advocate general also assured the court that a prioritisation plan for administrative and final sanctions would be ready by the next hearing date, Prasad also submitted that sanctions for basic infrastructure such as toilets and boundary walls were already issued, although fresh progress reports were awaited. However, the Bar most emphasised the need for legal chambers in functioning district courts such as Banswara, Pratapgarh, Jaisalmer, Dholpur, Alwar, and Ajmer, where new buildings are operational or almost complete Responding, the Advocate General committed to filing a "concrete, time-bound proposal" for lawyers' chambers in these districts within one week. Taking note of this, the Bench fixed September 9 for the next hearing.
