Excise dept steps up crackdown on illicit liquor
Jaipur, March 18 -- The Rajasthan excise department has launched a statewide enforcement drive from March 16 to 31 to crack down on liquor smuggling and illegal manufacturing, intensifying raids, patrols and checkpoint operations across districts.
Officials said the campaign has led to the seizure of illicit liquor, destruction of brewing units and registration of multiple cases under a zero-tolerance policy. Thousands of litres of wash used in illicit brewing have been destroyed, while illegal stock has been seized.
The drive is being carried out under the supervision of additional excise commissioners Pradeep Singh Sangawat and Anil Kumar Sharma. In Churu, five cases were registered and 75 pouches of country liquor along with 20 litres of illicit liquor were recovered. In Banswara, around 2,400 litres of wash were destroyed and seven cases filed....
