Ex-min's kin assaulted at home by men posing as cops, probe launched
Bikaner, Oct. 20 -- Former state minister and veteran BJP leader Surendra Pal Singh's family members were allegedly attacked at their home late on Saturday night by a group of men posing as police officers, police officers aware of the matter said on Sunday, adding that the incident occurred in Sriganganagar district under the Karanpur police station's jurisdiction.
The incident occurred at around 10.30pm, when two unidentified men allegedly followed Singh's son-in-law, Gurcharan Ramana, home from Sri Ganganagar.
As per to the complaint he filed after the incident, they allegedly introduced themselves as policemen and convinced him to let them enter the house.
The complaint added that upon entering the house, the assailants immediately began assaulting Ramana. They were quickly joined by four to five others who beat Ramana's son and daughter-in-law when they tried to intervene.
The complaint added that the men also held the family at gunpoint and asked them to show the money, jewellery and other valuables in the house.
"It seems a failed attempt of robbery which failed as no major robbery took place, but it was a serious case of assault. The attackers are still unidentified, and police have launched a search forming special teams to apprehend the criminals," said Sriganganagar district superintendent of police Amrita Duhan....
