Jaipur, Oct. 18 -- Inmates at the Special Central Jail in Shyalawas are crafting traditional earthen and cow-dung lamps this Diwali as part of an eco-friendly initiative launched to promote creativity, positivity, and self-reliance among prisoners. Jail superintendent Paras Jangid said the project is being carried out by inmates Lalchand and Arjun, under the supervision of jailer Vikas Bagoria and deputy jailer Dilawar Khan. The initiative encourages the inmates to channel their time and energy into constructive and artistic work, helping them develop new skills and a disciplined mindset. He said the lamps made of clay and cow dung are not only a symbol of environmental awareness but also a reflection of the inmates' creativity and hard work. Their craftsmanship has brought a festive and vibrant atmosphere to the prison premises, infusing the spirit of Diwali within its walls, he added. The jail administration has decided that this year, the prison complex will be illuminated exclusively with these eco-friendly lamps made by the inmates themselves-a gesture to honour their effort and dedication while promoting sustainability and hope, he said....
