Didwana tensed after Ambedkar statue defaced by miscreants
Didwana-Kuchaman, Dec. 3 -- Tension erupted in Didwana-Kuchaman district after a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar was allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants in Peeh gram panchayat on Tuesday, police said.
"Locals discovered the damaged statue during their morning walk and gathered at the site, informing the police. On arrival, police persuaded protesting locals demanding the identification and arrest of the culprits," superintendent of police (SP) Richa Tomar said.
"A complaint was registered against unidentified anti-social elements. The police deployed a team to maintain law and order in the area," the senior officer added.
According to Tomar, the police have identified some anti-social elements after registering the complaint and are searching for them.
The protests calmed after police reassured the residents of taking legal action against all the accused, the SP said.
Meanwhile, leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Tika Ram Jully, criticised the incident in a post on X, demanding legal action against those involved. He said, "To damage the statue of Ambedkar is the failure of law and order in the state."...
