Jaipur, Sept. 22 -- A latest report of the Rajasthan police showed that sexual violence cases against minors have gone up by 57.17% in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the last two years despite the overall rate of crimes against women, including rapes and gangrapes, came down by 10.81% in the same period. The monthly crime report (MCR) of the Rajasthan police has recently compiled the total number of crime cases till July and provided the comparison with the same period of seven months in previous two years 2023 and 2024. The data for the same in August and September are yet to be compiled and therefore are not available, said officials. As per the MCR report, at least 1,985 cases were registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Violences (Pocso) Act in Rajasthan till July, 2025 which was 1,263 in 2023, and 1,347 in 2024. The report also classified that 1,045 of the total Pocso cases in the first seven months of this year were of rapes including 266 gangrapes and 6 murders with rape. The figure is up 10.35% from 2023 when 947 minors' rape cases including 271 gang-rapes and 8 murders with rape were registered till July across the state. In 2024, a total 1,004 minors were raped in Rajasthan, of whom 316 were also gang-raped and 9 were murdered after rape, data showed. This happened as the total number of women (above 18) who were raped till July in 2025 went down by 19.53% in two years, despite the figure remaining high with 2,456 cases.
