DANISH NATIONAL DETAINED NEAR INDO-PAK BORDER
Bikaner, April 6 -- A 40-year-old Danish national was detained by security agencies on Sunday from the Khajuwala sector along the Indo-Pak international border in Bikaner district after his movements in the sensitive area triggered suspicion, police said.
Circle Officer Amarjeet Chawla said, "The foreign national, identified as Rene Faerch had reportedly been visiting the Khajuwala market repeatedly over the past two days. His continued presence and movement in the border belt raised concerns among locals, who alerted the police."
The Khajuwala police reached the spot and took him into custody. After initial interrogation, he has been sent to Joint Interrogation Centre in Bikaner for further questioning, police said.
SP Mridul Kachawa said the man was detained as he did not have the required permit to visit the restricted area. "He has been sent to the Joint Interrogation Centre in Bikaner for detailed questioning. His passport details are being verified and efforts are being made to contact the embassy concerned. Further facts will emerge after interrogation," the officer said.
Officials said that his documents appear to be in order. Initial assessment suggests the man may have entered the area due to lack of awareness about restrictions, though all angles are being probed, police said.htc...
