Crackdown on illegal mining, 13 trucks seized
Jaipur, Nov. 7 -- The Mines Department's Jaipur team seized 13 dumpers engaged in the unlawful transportation of masonry stone during a midnight operation in Neem Ka Thana and Khetri areas, in a crackdown against illegal mining activities, officials said.
The surprise action was carried out under the leadership of Superintending Mining Engineer (SME) Jaipur, NS Shaktawat, and Vigilance Officer Pratap Meena. To ensure secrecy, the department had formed a special team comprising officers from outside the region. The operation was launched late at night, targeting areas notorious for illegal mineral activities.
Mines Principal Secretary T. Ravikant has also emphasized the need for surprise inspections by teams drawn from different districts to curb illegal extraction. Acting on these directions, Mines Director Mahaveer Prasad Meena constituted multiple special teams to conduct unannounced inspections across sensitive mining zones.
Around midnight, the officers intercepted 13 dumpers illegally transporting masonry stone near Rela in Neem Ka Thana. The seized vehicles, along with the minerals, were handed over to Paota police station for further proceedings.
