Udaipur, June 28 -- A resident doctor of RNT Medical College's Dilshad Bhawan hostel received an electric shock from a water cooler on Thursday night, people aware of the matter said on Friday, adding that a 35-year-old doctor was electrocuted by the "same cooler" on June 18. The incident triggered massive outrage among hostel residents who started a protest. The incident occurred around 10pm when resident doctor Jitendra Sharma went to drink water from the cooler on the sixth floor, Dr Hitesh Sharma, general secretary of the resident doctors union, said. As he touched the water outlet, he felt an electric shock, Sharma added. Alarmed, he informed his fellow residents who immediately sealed the water cooler with a rope and put up a warning sign, Sharma said. They also tested the cooler with a tester device and recorded videos showing current flow despite the power switch being turned off. Following the protest, RNT Medical College Principal Dr Vipin Mathur and MB Hospital superintendent Dr RL Suman rushed to the scene. Suspended chief warden Dr Narendra Bansal, who accompanied them, allegedly removed the warning board, which further angered the residents. "One of our residents received a shock while trying to drink water. How can there still be current in the cooler when the administration claimed it had been repaired?" Sharma asked....
